Pediatric Eye Exam
Patients of age 19 years and under are covered by OHIP every year for a full comprehensive eye exam. During the examination we will assess the patient's colour vision as well as their depth perception. Younger patients will also be examined to ensure that there is no lazy eye due to high prescription or muscle weakness. Their ability to focus will also be assessed and monitored year to year.
Doctors of Optometry Canada recommends that children have their first eye exam between the age of 6 months to 9 months to ensure proper development of the eyes.
Studies have shown that 80% of learning in children is through their vision. Because our office understands the importance of annual eye exams for children, we proudly take part in the Eye See...Eye Learn® program which provides free eyeglasses to patients currently enrolled in junior kindergarten.
